Brio Salon

We were approached by Brio Salon to rethink their business’s storefront. Facing Lethbridge’s busy 3rd Avenue, there was an urge to differentiate their retail from the rest of the street. The task was to do an uplift of the street facade that would gather more attention for the business in a meaningful way, that could also somehow express the essence of the service. The decided approach was to simplify and reduce the elements of the facade for a bold clarity that would catch client attention. What satisfied these requisites was a two part composition, which consisted of continuous storefront windows along the sidewalk, and a floating screen wall above. The floating screen became an abstracted pattern of an aspen grove, which was curiously reminiscent of mid-century modernist aesthetic. A spirit of simplicity allowed for a modest design to enmesh the likes of art, architecture, and industry together.
